Here’s what we’ll be diving into today
The Email Rule I Broke To Make One Client $200K AUD
The mere exposure effect
What you can learn from The Oodie
Let’s get into it!
Rules are for fools (not really)
I broke the email design rules to make one client $200K in 2 hours
Take a look at this campaign.
No header, no “personalised CTA”, no subheader, hardly any copy, and a “shop now button”
The email gods would have an aneurysm looking at this.
And usually, I would too.
But sometimes, it makes sense to break rules.
Sometimes simple is better.
This was a social media client launching their anticipated quarter zip brand.
We’d been hyping up the launch over email for a couple of months, and had grown the email list to 30,000 people before we even made 1 cent.
On launch day, the mission was simple.
Announce the launch and get outta there!!!
Everyone knew what it was about.
Stay on brand, give a button to click.
Easy. And the data speaks for us… 28% click rate?
Use the rules of design as a guide, but break them when it makes sense.
You know your audience better than anyone else.

Insight Of The Week
The Mere Exposure Effect
The mere exposure effect states that the more someone is exposed to you, the more likely they are going to preference you.
This can be applied to most things in life.
But, it can be applied to our store.
If people see our brand more often than they see our competitors, they are more likely to buy from us.
Touch points are important for this reason.
3-4 email campaigns per week, FB ads, google ads, organic content on all platforms.
Cover all bases.
