Good vs Bad Emails
Some of these will surprise you
G’day,
Today’s edition is simply dedicated to analysing emails in my inbox.
The good, the bad, the ugly.
You’ll be able to use these insights for your stores next few emails.
Let’s get into it!
Email #1
Ancestral Supplements
7/10.
Now - the main positive to this is the angle.
I’ve had about 50 emails in my inbox today saying “Earth Day”
And that’s all they’ll say.
At least this brand is offering something for Earth Day.
However, I would move the offer into the hero image.
So it would say;
“Subscribe and save this Earth Day”
So at least it touches on the occasion, and delivers the offer.
Otherwise it’s nice and simple, and I don’t mind it. Font is a little gross though.
Email #2
Wotnot Naturals
This isn’t great
Maybe a 2 or 3/10
Here is why I don’t like it;
The main part of the hero image is the kids. While it might be cute, we need the main attraction here to be the offer. The offer being in the tiny circle, in a colour that doesn’t stand out, means it’s less likely to be read.
There is no urgency. “Back to school sale” but when does that end?
No button at the start.
The code for the sale is all the way down the bottom of the copy. that is the FIRST time they tell you the code?? If they got any clicks at the start, no one would even know what the code is.
No social proof
This is a really scrappy email that doesn’t deliver the sale well at all.
P.s. this brand has great products & I’m not trying to slander them. Their marketing emails just need some work.
Email #3
Eve Wellness
8/10
Great email, but just a few tiny things I’d change.
What is good about this;
Creative subject line, “wanna spoon?”
Great headline
Great hero image
Great use of colours, transitions, and social proof
What I don’t like about it;
the buttons. Just the buttons. They are way too small! And “Add to cart” is a little pushy for my liking.
The code also doesn’t stand out that great
The offer is really quite weird
But overall a fantastic email, really simple, ticks all the boxes. Just need to make those buttons stand out a bit more!
And I’m not overly familiar with the industry - but a free spoon seems like a really random offer. Most people have plenty of spoons at home. I personally wouldn’t buy something from a brand for a free spoon. I have about 30 in my kitchen.
