How to generate unlimited email ideas

Use this trick

Hey there,

Often when I speak to a brand, one of their biggest issues with making high quality email content is simply running out of ideas.

Can they send 1 email per week? probably.

Can they send 2 emails per week? maybe.

But can they send 3-4 high quality campaigns each week? most can’t.

So, brands often default back to just sending campaigns about their product features or running flash sales.

Like myprotein…

So how can you ensure you never run out of ideas for your marketing emails?

Here’s what I do.

Firstly - what does the customer need to believe to buy from us?

This is often things like

  • We’re better than competitors

  • Our price point is justified

  • We provide a high quality product

  • We solve their problem

They need to believe majority or all of these things to make a purchase with us.

Say for example, you want to prove that you solve their problem.

Pretend you sell a Vitamin D supplement.

What problem does Vitamin D solve?

  • Vitamin D is vital for mental health

  • Vitamin D is vital for physical health

  • Vitamin D will improve your energy levels

  • It promotes dental health

  • It promotes bone health

  • It promotes tissue health

So, these are all benefits of our product. Now we just need to turn this into valuable content.

E.g.

  • 5 signs you’re low on Vitamin D

  • How Vitamin D may help you hit your next PB 👀

  • Top 5 benefits of Vitamin D (simple, but effective)

  • How much Vitamin D should you be getting?

  • Are you getting enough sunshine in your life?

  • Top 5 sources of Vitamin D

  • The best way to protect your immune system this flu season

Bang - there are 7 email topics I thought of in about 3 minutes.

In a month you may need 10-12 email campaigns.

  • Use 5-7 value based campaigns like above

  • Use 2-3 slightly pushier campaigns (UGC/Reviews/Features Highlight)

  • Use 2 or 3 direct response sales campaigns or discount offers.

That is your email calendar sorted for the month in less than 10 minutes.

Next time your short on content - do an exercise like the above. Apply it to any product you sell.

Hope this helps,
