6 Things That Will Increase Open Rates

Are yours below 35%...?

Hey there,

Today I wanted to go over 6 things that will improve your open rates.

If your open rates are below 35% on average, something is most likely wrong.

So if that sounds like you, here’s what to do:

  1. Tighten your segmenting

Maybe you’re just sending to too many unengaged subscribers.

Tighten your segments to subscribers who are engaged in the last 60-90 days.

If that doesn’t work, go even narrower, like 30 days.

  1. Write better subject lines

Maybe your subject lines just aren’t good enough.

A/B test a few variations, but also make sure you’re keeping them under 6 words.

  1. Test your deliverability

You could be landing in spam.

Test your deliverability on glockapps.com to see what is going on.

It’ll let you know if you’re landing in spam folders, and for which providers.

  1. Clean your list

Your list could be extremely old.

It’s important to clean out your old and dead subscribers. Not everyone can be engaged.

Upload your list as a CSV to millionverifier.com

This will tell you which contacts are dead, and you can then suppress them.

  1. Check your domain

Perhaps your domain is not setup correctly?

Use MX toolbox or palisade.email to see if your DNS records are all in tact.

  1. Add non-promotional footer text

The reason I’ve bold, italics, and underlined this is because this is a reaaaaal trick.

Not many people know about this STILL.

If you add a bunch of non promotional HTML to the bottom of your footer, you’ll land in more primary inboxes.

Go to CHATGPT and prompt it to write you some non-promotional text using your about us, privacy policy, and terms of service.

Hope this helps,
