5 best Klaviyo tips
Implement these today
Hey there,
On this newsletter, I don’t think I’ve ever actually given myself “credibility” to be speaking about email marketing…
Where I’m from in Australia, it’s often frowned upon or even engrained in us to not speak about our achievements.
Now that’s not meant to be some sob “poor me” story - it’s just the reason why I don’t often speak about myself.
But I figure before I give you the 5 best Klaviyo tips, I should probably tell you a little about me.
» My name is Angus Cowan, I’m 23 years old from Australia
» Started Email Marketing 4 years ago for a coffee syrup company doing $4M/year +
» Made them $1M from email in my first year thanks to some great teaching I received internally
» Decided I was pretty good at this & started freelancing
» 2 years ago started my agency
» Now I’ve personally consulted for 50+ stores, and my agency currently works with 30+ ecom brands around the world where we’ve generated millions in revenue and sent 100,000s of emails
So in saying that, I’m going to tell you the top 5 tips I have to take your email marketing to the next level.
Engagement before sales
If your emails are already generating a ton of revenue (35%+), this is relatively easy to do.
But if your account is below this, you should be focusing on building mass amounts of engagement. Do this by sending super valuable/engaging emails that your readers would actually want to spend time consuming.
The sales will come.
Don’t neglect traffic
New traffic + new email subscribers is going to be the fuel for your email list to fire. Too many stores see early success email marketing, and then rely solely on their Klaviyo to drive revenue. You need consistent traffic for this to work over a long period of time.
So keep your ads on!
Setup at LEAST the bare minimum flows
If you have the resources, set up all your flows to a HIGH level from the beginning.
This will ensure you’re making the most out of your account and is extremely high ROI. If you’re a fully functioning store with subpar flows, there is no excuse for this as it’s just money left on the table.
If you have time + the knowledge, you can DIY this. If you don’t have the time nor the knowledge, you can consider outsourcing.
If you don’t have time, knowledge, or even a bit of money to spend, do this:
Setup a really basic welcome flow offering a discount in the first email. A lot of these emails can just be plain text if you really don’t know how to do it.
Setup a really basic Abandoned Checkout flow just using the default Klaviyo templates
Throw together a post-purchase flow thanking customers who place an order
This will do the trick while you’re getting started
Take Advantage of Agencies Freebies
This is going to sound a bit crazy considering I run an agency.
But nearly every agency would be willing to offer you a free audit of your account. And there are a lot of agencies out there.
You could nearly get a free audit of your account nearly every other week.
These audits will practically tell you what to do in your account lol and then you can just DIY if you like.
This is an easy way to get free advice from experienced professionals.
Don’t try and be perfect
In my opinion, chasing perfection is going to just zap all your time and resources.
Focus on just being consistent and actually getting good content to your list.
They’ll be much more interested in the content itself, then bothered if the design doesn’t look A+++ or if your margins/spacing are slightly off.
Just make good content and get 1% better each day.
Hope these tips help you inside your klaviyo account.
